Real Action to Reduce Grocery Prices
Inflation in Australia is high and rising higher, putting pressure on household budgets and forcing families to make tough decisions.
Under Labor, food prices are up 12.3%.
Over not just one or two, but THREE failed budgets, Labor has had the wrong priorities and has made the wrong decisions.
It’s abundantly clear: Labor just isn’t up to the task.
But the Coalition has a plan to bring Australia back on track.
Peter Dutton and I will:
- Stand up for small businesses, farmers and consumers by delivering strong penalties for anti-competitive behaviour from supermarket giants
- Strengthen the Food and Grocery Code by making it mandatory for supermarkets with an annual turnover above $5 billion which includes Woolworths and Coles
- Increase penalties for breaches of the code
- Create a supermarket Commissioner to act as an impartial confidential avenue for farmers and suppliers to have their grievances heard
- Introduce sector-specific divestiture powers to manage supermarket price-gouging
Will you stand with us to take real action to reduce grocery prices?
