In 2016, the former federal Liberal government committed $20 million to upgrade Montrose roundabout with traffic lights to improve traffic congestion and increase road safety.
This project was due to begin in 2023, until the Albanese Labor Government implemented its ’90-day’ review of all planned infrastructure projects.
Thanks to our strong community campaign, I can confirm these funds will be kept in Montrose and the upgrade will go ahead.
Planned upgrades included an upgraded intersection at Montrose, replacing the congested roundabout with traffic lights at the intersection of Swansea Road, Canterbury Road, Montrose Road and Mount Dandenong Tourist Road.
